Course Description
This course assembles leading scholars' and experts' views from around the world to advance current thinking on geoeconomics. It is a thorough and authoritative reference work on world economics that aims to shape strategy formulation in business and government for years to come by expanding their understanding of the topic of geoeconomics, analysing the implications of international geoeconomic events, and providing the students with theoretical and practical approaches on the management of geoeconomics.
The recent launching of China’s high-profile Belt and Road Initiative and its founding of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have underscored China’s rapidly growing importance as a global player in development, diplomacy, and economic governance.
Through case studies from Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Central Asia, this course aims to examine the intertwined geoeconomics and geopolitics of China’s investment and development in Asia. It provides in-depth and grounded analyses of the state-making projects and the material effects of China’s “going out” strategy on livelihoods, economies, and politics.

On Week 16 and 17, we have seminars dedicated to listening to your three-minute presentations.
You will present your three-minute speeches on the topic of the effectiveness of the specific tool from the "Toolkit to Mobilise Funding and Financing for Inclusive and Quality Infrastructure Investment in Regions and Cities".
You may also create a PPT presentation to support your speech with visual aids. Please make sure your presentation is clear, concise, and relevant to your topic.
Please remember that you have only three minutes to deliver your speech, so you should practice your timing and avoid unnecessary details. Your speech should have a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You should also be ready to answer some questions from me or your classmates after your speech.
I'd like to inform you about two possible arrangements for the speech session. Due to the large number of students, we have to divide the session into two parts. Here are the two options that you can choose from:
1. We can accommodate forty students who are prepared to deliver their speeches on Monday (June 5) and reschedule the rest for June 12. In this case, you will have to coordinate with your classmates and decide the order of the speakers.
2. We can follow the students' list and assign forty students based on their student ID numbers. For example, your ID ends with ninety-two, and you will be scheduled to speak on June 12.
