Course Description

The programme consists of several core lectures - personality and individual differences, work motivation, decision making, psychological contracts, organisational justice, performance, leadership, groups and group processes, job design, organizational culture.

This course seeks to understand individual attitudes and behaviour in an organisational context by reviewing psychological and sociological theories as they apply to organisations; demonstrating the contribution of a psychological perspective to understanding human behaviour at work; and critically evaluating the empirical evidence.

OB studies the impact individuals, groups, and structures have on human behavior within organizations. It is an interdisciplinary field that includes sociology, psychology, communication, and management. OB complements organizational theory, which focuses on organizational and intra-organizational topics, and complements human-resource studies, which is more focused on everyday business practices.

On Week 16 and 17, we have seminars dedicated to listening to your three-minute presentations.

It is a group task; you must form groups of up to four students to present the five-minute speeches on the topic of your choice:
- How to motivate employees in a remote work environment
- The impact of organizational culture on employee performance and satisfaction
- The benefits and challenges of diversity and inclusion in the workplace
- The role of leadership styles and communication skills in managing teams
- The role of organizational culture and values in shaping employee behaviour and attitudes.
- The effects of stress, burnout and work-life balance on employee well-being and productivity.
- The best practices for enhancing teamwork, collaboration, and communication among employees.
- You may propose your topic relevant to the course content highlighting the organizational issues and how the company copes with them.
- You may choose the company and illustrate its organizational structure and organizational change to achieve operational excellence. (Topic of the Week 14, 15)

You may also create a PPT presentation to support your speech with visual aids. Please ensure your presentation is clear, concise, and relevant to your topic.

Please remember that you have only five minutes to deliver your speech, so you should practice your timing and avoid unnecessary details. Your speech should have a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.

You may choose one speaker for the whole presentation and let other students from the group answer some questions from me or your classmates after your speech.

These topics are relevant and interesting for the course as they cover various aspects of organizational behavior and its implications for individuals, groups and organizations. They also allow you to apply theoretical concepts and frameworks to real-world scenarios and cases.
