Course Description
Economic Policy is a course that examines the role of government in the economy, the effects of policy interventions on economic outcomes, and the design and evaluation of policy instruments. The course covers topics such as taxation, public spending, social welfare, environmental regulation, trade policy, monetary policy, and fiscal policy. The course aims to provide students with the analytical tools and empirical evidence to understand and evaluate economic policies, as well as to communicate their findings and recommendations effectively.
By the end of the course, students are expected to:
- Explain the rationale and objectives of various economic policies and their trade-offs
- Apply economic theory and empirical methods to analyze the impact and effectiveness of policy interventions
- Critically assess the strengths and limitations of different policy instruments and evaluation techniques
- Communicate policy analysis and recommendations clearly and persuasively in written and oral formats
